Officers in Colby are looking for a subject in connection with an armed robbery last night at the Quality Inn. Last night after an armed robbery Colby officers conducted a traffic stop at MP56 on I70 when a white male bailed from the vehicle. The suspect is identifed as Shawn Gill and is described as a white male, 5'8 130LBS 18-19YOA. He HAS CHINESE LETTERING ON THE INSIDE OF UNK FOREARM; WEARING ...DK BLU HOODY WITH DENVER BRONCOS ON THE FRONT WITH ORANGE LETTERS; DK GRY OR BLK SWEATPANTS; DK BLU & GRY NIKE HIGH TOPS; SHORT BRO HAIR WITH PENCIL THIN LINE BEARD ALONG JAW. He ran into the milo field just off the interstate and has not been seen since. If you see this subject do not approach him and call 911 or the Colby Police Dept.
Suspects are now in custody.

Yesterday deputy's received a tip about illegal items located at a residence on Kansas street in Goodland. Subsequently a search warrant was issued and conducted late Saturday night. Some items were seized and the investigation is on going. All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Deputy's finalizing paperwork today for formal charges against a Texas man who is alleged to have struck a parked car and other property as he left the scene yesterday afternoon.  Driver was subsequently arrested by Sherman County Deputy's for DUI and leaving the scene of at least two accidents. All subjects taken into custody are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A pat on the back to Deputy Tony Wardell who stopped in Colorado yesterday to assist a CHP trooper on the side of the road who was struggling to take a DUI suspect into custody.  Sometimes our Deputy's are called into action even when they are off duty. Good work Tony.

Tonight Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to rural Northwest Sherman County for a report of a 51 year old man trapped under a tree that he was cutting down. Thanks to the quick work of good samaritans, Aubrey Winter and Bill Gatshall, the victim was freed. He was transported by Northwest Kansas EMS.
